A heavyweight among Jayhawks, this rendition of the Jayhawk was cast in solid bronze by artist Elden Tefft, P'49, G'50, in 1985. Entitled "Jayhawk II Kansas Sarimanok", you can find this Hawk guarding the south end of the third floor corridor of the Kansas Union. Of course you can also find another version of this Jayhawk in front of Strong Hall. The Strong Hall piece was originally intended to be perched on the west side of the Kansas Union, there was even a special perch built for it on the southwest corner of the Kansas Union.
