During the summer of 2003 the Lawrence Visitors and Convention Bureau organized the "Jayhawks On Parade" event. Over 30 various Jayhawks with different themes, designed by local artists, were placed around the city. The Union is home to the original Hal Sandy design, although in a 3-D motif. This Jayhawk currently resides at the entrance of the Kansas Union.
